Checklist: Installing a Network Name resource

Choose an Internet Protocol (IP) address resource to be associated with the network name.

If an IP address resource does not already exist, create one. If necessary, obtain the IP address from your network administrator. This must be a static IP address.

When the Network Name resource is brought online, the IP address resource with which it is associated is included when the name is registered with the various name resolution services.

Choose the name you want to publish on the network, following any naming conventions that might be in effect. Not applicable
Use the New Resource Wizard to create the network name resource.

Make the network name resource dependent on the IP address resource.

  • Optionally, you can enable Kerberos authentication and specify that DNS registration must succeed for the network name resource.
